Overview

Would you like to experience a taste of traditional Colombian coffee, nature, surf and sand? In this adventure you will visit several regions including a few Patrimonial Pueblos. Each one has beautiful traditional architecture with a small town feel.

Venture out onto the unbeaten path just outside of the pueblos to experience natural wonders. Visitor will experience the best of the coffee region and learn all about coffee production from plant to cup. Swim in deliciously warm thermal waters. And, marvel in the rolling green hills of the coffee region.

To end your vacation on a relaxing note you will enjoy warm sands, beautiful beaches, and clear blue waters. For the second segment, we will explore the Caribbean coast. Take an adventurous float in the Palomino river. Delight in rural scenery as you ride by horseback to our secluded Hacienda in Tayrona National Park. Then, hike to the oldest known Tayrona ruins in this archeological twist. 

With our Patrimonial Pueblos, Coffee and Coastal tour, you will become acquainted with the history, beauty and fun personality of three unique destinations in Colombia.

Day 1 - Welcome to Bogota Colombia

Your adventure begins when our driver picks you up at the airport and transports you to your boutique hotel in the heart of the historic Candelaria. There are many restaurant and bar options within easy walking distance. Be sure to get a good night's rest, there's more to come!

Day 2 - Travel to Villa de Leyva / City Tour
Day 2 - Travel to Villa de Leyva / City Tour

On Day 2, you will travel via private transport from Bogota to Villa de Leyva, a patrimonial pueblo located 4 hours from Bogota. Upon arrival, you will have time for lunch before your guided city tour with our english speaking guide. Learn all about the history, indigenous influence, and architecture of this beautiful cobblestone town. Tour duration: 2.5 hours. Enjoy the town by night with it’s beautifully lit square and many options for delicious food and drink.
Lodging: Boutique hotel in the pueblo center Breakfast included.

Day 3 - Angel’s Pass Tour

This morning, you will participate in a tour exploring the desert scenery which surrounds Villa de Leyva. Discover beautiful views, the house of clay, and rappel a waterfall! You will hike 2-3 hours today. Total duration of the tour: 6 hours. Return to the pueblo in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the evening.

Day 4 - Travel to Bogota via Zipaquirá / Salt Cathedral

On day 4, you will travel via private transport from Villa de Leyva and back towards Bogota.
Enjoy a delicious lunch in Zipaquirá, a small town adjacent to the Salt Cathedral. You will take a 2 hour tour at the Salt mine and Cathedral where you will learn about the formation of the salt mines and the construction of this unique cathedral made entirely of salt! Arrive in Bogota that evening. This is your time to relax and have a private dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants.

Day 5 - Travel to Manizales / Salamina - City Tour

Today you will travel via private transport from your hotel to the El Dorado International Airport - National Terminal. There, you will fly from Bogota to Manizales.
Upon arrival you will discover green mountains and beautiful valleys during your 2 hour drive from Manizales to Salamina. In the afternoon you will participate in a 2 hour tour of Salamina, an authentic patrimonial pueblo nestled in the lush tropical terrain of the coffee region.

Day 6 - Wax Palm Tour - Travel to Hacienda Venecia

The morning of day 6 you will participate in a tour featuring the wax palm. This is a species ONLY found in this region of Colombia. Your guided tour will begin with a traditional Jeep Willy ride to the national park and finish with a guided trek through the forest. You’ll learn about the local history, ecosystems, flora and fauna of the region.
In the afternoon you will travel via private transport to our coffee hacienda in the heart of the coffee region.

Day 7 - Coffee Tour / Thermals

After breakfast you will gain a perspective of the entire production process from start to finish during your coffee tour. Learn all about the coffee plant, the coffee bean, and what makes Colombian coffee so unique. Enjoy lunch in the hacienda. Marvel at the endemic birds of the region. Drink as much coffee as you like! In the afternoon, you will travel via private transport from Hacienda Venecia to some nearby thermal baths to soak for a few hours. Have dinner onsite at the thermals then return via private transport to the Hacienda for a good night’s rest.

Day 8 - Travel to Santa Marta / Palomino

This morning, you will travel via private transport to the Manizales (about 30 minutes), to catch your flight to Santa Marta. Our driver will pick you up at the Santa Marta airport (he will have a sign with your name on it). You will travel via private transport to El Matuy, our eco beach resort. Here there is no need for shoes as you step out of your cabaña (or cabin) onto a sandy beach. There you will find some much needed down time nestled among the coconut palms. Lunch will be served upon arrival.
The evening meals are served in their romantic beachside dining area, which is lit by candles and torches. Enjoy a refreshing shower in an open air shower and then get a good night’s sleep in their comfortable beds. No Electricity.

Day 9 - Float the Palomino River

After a delicious breakfast on the beach, you will be invigorated by a guided hike up into the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Relax later as you a leisurely float down the Palomino river. Return to your eco lodge for a delicious lunch and enjoy your afternoon relaxing on the beach. If you are feeling restless, hike down the beach and take a dip in the delta of the Palomino river. If you’re lucky, you will catch a glimpse of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta’s snow capped mountains. This is the tallest mountain range in Colombia.
Later you will savor the evening over a candle lit dinner on the beach.

Day 10 - Travel to Los Naranjos

You will travel via private transport to beach known as Los Naranjos, adjacent to Tayrona National Park. Enjoy the afternoon relaxing on the beach, or hike to the various areas nearby.

Day 11 - Guided hike to El Pueblito

Today you will participate in a guided hike to El Pueblito, the ruins of the oldest known indigenous Tayrona village. You’ll walk along a stone path that connects El Pueblito to the sea - built and used by the indigenous people. Look up carefully - you may catch a glimpse of monkeys following your progress! This is a 4 hour hike.

Day 12 - Travel to Cartagena

Your beach vacation isn't over yet. You will travel via private transport from Los Naranjos to your boutique hotel in the heart of historic downtown Cartagena - a 5 hour drive.
Take an evening stroll in the old walled city of Cartagena. For sunset views of the Caribbean Ocean, we recommend Cafe del Mar.

Day 13 - City Tour of Cartagena

After breakfast you will participate in a guided city walking tour of Cartagena. After, your guide will drop you off at your hotel. You will have the afternoon free to enjoy the pool, visit museums, or further explore the streets of the old city. In the evening you will head out to enjoy traditional Cartagena cuisine at our recommended restaurant. Grab an evening cocktail at “San Francisco de Baluarte” located on top of the wall where the ocean breeze blows. You may even catch a live musical performance!

Day 14 - Farewell Colombia

We hope you enjoyed your experience with us. This is your last day. You will travel via private transport to the airport in Cartagena to catch your flight home.

FAQs

What kind of clothing should I wear on this tour?
Manizales is located on a mountain ridge and the weather can change quickly. From bright, warm sun to foggy and chilly within a matter of moments.

Hacienda Venecia is located in a deep valley and is warmer and humid. For the coffee tour, pants are recommended since there bugs while touring the coffee fields. Also, comfortable walking shoes.
