For this hiking trip we’ll pick you at your hotel in Villa de Leyva and drive you to the entrance of the national park of Iguaque (the entrance fee is not included). From there you’ll start hiking up along with a guide towards the San Pedro de Iguaque lagoon & moor, a beautiful and sacred place for the Muisca people who believe this was the point of origin of mankind. Appreciate the Frailejones (from the sunflower family) which populate this Paramo, your guide will explain why they are very important to the eco system.
Paramo Hiking the 9 km (5,5 mi) trail, which winds its way uphill through cloud forest up until an altitude of 3770 meters above sea level (12369 feet) which isn’t easy. Wear practical boots, and be prepared for cold and rainy weather, as the temperature can drop fast.
