For this hiking trip we’ll pick you at your hotel in Villa de Leyva, and drive you to the entrance of the national park of Iguaque (the entrance fee is not included). From there you’ll start hiking up along with a guide towards the San Pedro de Iguaque lagoon, a beautiful and sacred place for the Muisca people who believe this was the point of origin of mankind.
Hiking the 9 km (5,5 mi) trail, which winds its way uphill through cloud forest, isn’t easy. Wear practical boots, and be prepared for cold and rainy weather, as the temperature can drop fast.
TERRAIN Accessible for the average mountain bike rider, this tour is a mix of dirt roads and asphalt. Make sure you are fit enough for short challenging climbs and have a good brake control for some steep descends.
